This month at Metropawlis
Now that we've announced that we're moving to the Third Ward in early 2006,
we want to remind you that Metropawlis is still open on Brady Street and
will be through the end of the year. Please stop by and check out the new
dog and cat stuff we have in stock!
The dogs are overrunning Brady Street again! The Brady Street Dog
Parade, Costume Contest and Pet Blessing will take place on Sunday, October
2, 2005. Registration starts at 11:00 a.m. in front of Metropawlis.
The day's events include:
- Parade at 12:30,
- Pet Blessing at St Rita's at 1:00,
- Costume Contest at 2:00, and
- A raffle at 2:30.
The suggested donation is $15, and proceeds will go to the Wisconsin Humane
Society and the animal victims of Hurricane Katrina. Hope to see you
there!
We always knew we had the best customers, and our fundraiser for the Humane
Society of the United States proved it again! We asked you to donate to
the HSUS Disaster Relief Fund, and we promised to match donations up to
$500. In the month of September you donated over $500 to the cause, so Metropawlis
is sending over $1,000 to help the pet victims of hurricane
Katrina.
The HSUS has helped save over 7,000 animals in the areas hit by Katrina and
Rita. They're again asking for the support of pet lovers for a new effort,
and this one won't require you to open your wallet: Congress is
considering the Pets Evacuation and Transportation Standards Act (PETS Act) to
ensure that in future disasters, people will not be forced to leave behind their
household pets and service animals, as they were in the wake of Hurricane
Katrina. Take
action NOW and ask your U.S. Representative to support the PETS Act to
ensure relief agencies plan for pets and that a tragedy of this magnitude never
happens again.
