This month at Metropawlis

You'll find all sorts of fun activities for you and your pet in this month's newsletter, so let's get right to it!

October events

We would like to invite you to some fun events in October.  Mark your calendars for the following dates:

  • October 20:  Fall Gallery Night: Join us at Metropawlis for Gallery Night.  We'll offer complimentary cheese and beverages and, of course, special treats for your furry friends! In our store we'll be showcasing photos from local photographer, Melody Carranza. The event will once again feature free parking in the Historic Third Ward parking structures, making it the perfect night to visit the Third Ward and your favorite pet boutique!
  • October 21:  Harold’s Birthday:  Harold, the Three Amigos spokesdog, is turning four this month, and we invite you to join us for doggie birthday cake and human treats, as well.  We'll celebrate Harold's big day from from 10 am to Noon! Mention that it’s Harold’s birthday when you check out and you’ll receive 10% off your purchase.
  • October 28: Fall Harvest Dog Walk & Yappy Hour at Central Bark on 25th and St. Paul:  Metropawlis and Three Amigos will participate in The Fall Harvest Dog Walk & Yappy Hour.  Come Trick or Treat with your dog from 4 to 6 pm and stay for the Yappy Hour from 7 to 10 pm. All proceeds go to benefit CARAC (Companion Animal Resource & Adoption Center) and ROMP (Residents for Off-Leash Milwaukee Parks) There's a $15 donation per event or $20 covers both the Walk and Yappy Hour!   • All Month Long:  Artscape: A Third Ward Sculpture Walk: Here's a great activity for you and your pooch: Enjoy twelve outdoor sculpture pieces created by Wisconsin artists. The sculptures will remain on display for two months throughout the Third Ward neighborhood and are available for viewing rain or shine, day or night! Walk the Ward, enjoy the art, and make sure to stop at Metropawlis on the way!

A fond farewell to Thelma

Metropawlis has never had a store dog, but Thelma came close to holding the honor during the store's first two years on Brady Street.  If you visited us on Brady, you probably knew or met Thelma; in fact, you probably had to step over her, since her favorite place to lounge was directly in front of our stairs.

Thelma pass away last month after a long and happy life.  She was a special dog who befriended everyone on Brady and was a great companion to all of us at the store. 

In honor of Thelma, Metropawlis has made a donation to the Wisconsin Humane Society.  If you care to make your own donation, please visit WIHumane.org.

GlamaCat Charms are sure to be a great addition to your kitty’s collar! Bling it on with these cute Silvertone charms featuring bejeweled bodies and sparkling faux gem eyes. Charms measure 7/8"L x 5/8"W and have a lobster claw clasp for easy attachment to collars.

Our shelves will be stocked full with many new items coming in the next few weeks – we hope to see you in the store sometime soon!
