This month at Metropawlis

We hope and your pets are enjoying the start of summer.  And we hope you'll allow Metropawlis to be part of your summer.  Check out the events and specials available in June--plus, a couple great links to some funny and interesting pet videos.

Take Your Dog to Work Day 2007

Mark your calendars for Friday, June 22nd and join us for "Take Your Dog to Work Day 2007"!  Whether you're with your favorite four-legged friend or not, we invite you, your coworkers, and friends to visit our store for food, fun and great deals. The Grateful Dog Hot Dog Cart will be in front of our store offering their Original Chicago Style Hot Dogs for purchase, and we’ll have “Yappy Meals” ready to purchase for your pet as well! Complimentary Dog Beer and dog goodies will also be available. Metropawlis will be donating 20% of our sales between the hours of 11 am and 2 pm to the Wisconsin Humane Society, and the Grateful Dog will be donating their tip jar as well. Hope to see you here!

Ride the Milwaukee Trolley Loop for Free

Beginning this Wednesday, June 6th, the Milwaukee Trolley returns!  Ride free to East Town, Westown, Old World Third Street, the Historic Third Ward and the Milwaukee Art Museum.  Trolleys serve stops every 20 minutes, and you can complete the entire loop in 40 minutes.  The Milwaukee Trolley runs Wednesday through Saturday from 11 am to 9:20 pm.  Check out the route, points of interest, and other details on RideMCTS.com. 

And as if that isn't reason enough to visit us in the Ward, you can also come and check out the exciting, new multi-space parking meters that accept coins, debit, and credit cards.  (Yes, we know this isn't really that exciting, but we'll stop at nothing to entice you to visit!)

Sneezing Pandas, Swimming Dogs, and More Vids

We've been doing some surfing through YouTube and thought you might enjoy some links to these funny animal videos.  These links are rated "C" for Cute:

  • Sneezing Panda:  Who would think a tiny panda baby could make so much noise?  His sneeze is so loud it startles his mother!
  • Smartest Dog:  Everyone thinks their pet is smart, but I don't think I've seen a dog as resourceful as this one.  (Or one who dislikes water quite so much!)
  • Another Smart Dog:  I'm not so sure if this canine is smart, patient, or just very well trained.  (You'll need to turn up your volume for this one.) 
  • And a Smart Cat:  This feline is so bright, she can open her own treat jar!

Getting through the Marquette Interchange & Parking

Marquette InterchangeGetting to the Third Ward may seem difficult because of the Marquette Interchange Project, but it isn't!  Driving to Metropawlis from the north, south, or west is still very easy.  Click the icon at the right to receive up-to-date driving directions!

And parking nearby is plentiful!  Here's a tip:  Many folks stick to Water and Broadway Streets when seeking parking, but there's a lot more parking to be found just a block or two to the east, on Milwaukee and Jefferson Streets.  There are also three lots and structures within a couple blocks:

  • Milwaukee Public Market Lot: The entrance to the parking lot behind the MPM is off of Water Street, between St. Paul and Clybourn. You can park free for the first hour six days a week, and parking is free in this lot all day on Sundays.
  • Parking Garages: The Third Ward has two large parking garages available for visitors. These can be found on the northeast corner of Milwaukee & Chicago Streets (212 N. Milwaukee St.) and the southeast corner of Water & Chicago Streets (225 E. Chicago St.
